Bio

Joey Notch enters his second consecutive season and third overall as an assistant coach for the Warriors in 2024.

In 2023, Notch returned to the Warriors coaching staff after three years away from ECC. He coached the catchers, hitters, and served as the third base coach. The Warriors won the South Coast Confernce title in 2023 after going 31-14 overall and 18-6 in conference play, making a 3C2A Super Regionals appearance. 

Notch spent the 2022 season coaching at Cypress College, where the Chargers made it to the CCCAA Super Regionals. 

From 2019-21, Notch was a part of the Long Beach State coaching staff, primarily assisting with catchers and running the bullpen during games. He earned his Masters degree in Public Administration at Long Beach State in 2021. 

Notch joined El Camino College for the 2018 season as catching and first base coach. The Warriors made the “Elite Eight” after posting a 28-19 record.

Along with his collegiate coaching experience, Notch has experience in summer leagues where he was the manager of the Grizzlies in the Palm Springs Collegiate League in 2020 and 2021. He was an assistant coach for the Palm Springs Power in 2021 and an assistant with the Orange County Pirates in 2022. 

Notch finished his playing career at Long Beach State where he graduated in 2017. He helped the Dirtbags reach two postseasons, a regional final appearance at Miami in 2016, and a Super Regional in 2017 at Long Beach, falling just a game shy of reaching the NCAA College World Series. He graduated Long Beach State with a degree in Consumer Affairs.

Prior to Long Beach State, Notch attended El Camino College, where he played two seasons for the Warriors. Notch was an All-Conference catcher for the Warriors both seasons. He also played quarterback on the football team in 2014.

He attended West High School in Torrance where he lettered in football, baseball and wrestling.
