Bio

Grant Palmer was hired as the head coach of the Warriors baseball team in August 2023. 

Prior to getting the head job, Palmer was an assistant coach at Loyola Marymount in the spring of 2023. He worked with the outfielders and hitters. LMU claimed its first outright regular season West Coast Conference title in 25 years after posting a 21-6 mark in conference play and 29-24 overall record. Two players earned All-American honors and five were named to the All-WCC Team with Palmer on the coaching staff. 

Palmer was an assistant coach with the Warriors for five seasons (2017-2022). He ran the Warriors' offense, worked with the infielders, and coordinated all recruiting efforts.

Since joining the coaching staff in 2017, the Warriors have had the best three-year stretch in program history. The team made three consecutive “Elite Eight” appearances and two “Final Four” appearances, finishing as the state runner-up in 2019 for just the second time in program history.. 

In addition, Palmer served as the Head Coach for the Anchorage Bucs in the prestigious Alaska Baseball Summer League.  In his first year as the Head Coach the Bucs won the 2019 ABL summer championship.

Coach Palmer played for ECC in 2012, utilizing his red shirt and then transferred to UC Irvine. At Irvine, he was 11th all-time in games played. Palmer was an All Tournament selection for the 2014 Corvallis Regional. Palmer and the Anteaters went on to play in the 2014 College World Series. 

Palmer graduated from UC Irvine with a degree in Sociology and Educational Sciences before earning his Master’s in Sports Science from the United States Sports Academy.

Coach Palmer attended El Segundo High School and, in 2011, he was named the Athlete of the Year. Palmer lettered in baseball (four years) and football (three years). In baseball, he was nominated three times for All-Area and All-League. Palmer was also nominated All-CIF. In football, he was nominated two times All-League and one time All-Area and All-CIF.
