Warriors Wallop Seahawks For Sixth Straight Win

TORRANCE, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors baseball team defeated LA Harbor at home on Thursday, 20-10 to secure the series win over the Seahawks and they won their sixth game in a row.

During the Warriors (15-7, 7-4 SCC) six game winning streak, they have outscored opponents 84-to-16.

Thursday's match feature crooked numbers all over the box score as there were only two half innings where a run wasn't scored. The Warriors scored at least one run in all eight innings they batted as they scored 20 runs on 23 hits. Every Warrior in the starting lineup had at least one hit with Matt Hammond leading the team going 5-for-5 from the dish with 3 runs and 3 RBIs. Slater Nunez went 4-for-6 with 4 runs and 3 RBIs. Gio Crow went 3-for-5 with 3 runs and 3 RBIs on one home run. Gil Solis went 2-for-6 with 3 runs and 5 RBIs and Dylan Mares went 2-for-6 with 3 runs and 4 RBIs.

Adrian Pineda picked up the win tossing six innings and allowing 8 runs (5 earned) on ten hits, 5 walks ,and striking out 4 batters. Henry Sorman tossed the final three frames to pick up his second save of the season.

LA Harbor struck for two in the first inning after loading the bases with no outs. The Warriors responded in the bottom half after Lucas Bonham and Matt Hammond had back-to-back singles to put two runners on. Gil Solis homered over the left center wall to put the Warriors ahead 3-2.

The Seahawks tied the game at 3-3 in the second inning. The Warriors responded again after loading the bases with one out in the inning and Matt Hammond singled to second base to bring in one run to restore the Warrior lead back to 4-3.

The Seahawks tied the game back in the third inning to make it a 4-4 game. In the bottom of the third inning, Gio Crow hit his first home run of the season on a 2-run shot over the leftfield wall to put the Warriors up 6-4. The Seahawks once again tied the game in the top of the fourth inning. After loading the bases with one out, DJ Garcia hit a slow dribbler back to Pineda. Pineda got the lead runner out at home and should've gotten out of the inning on a double play but the catcher's throw went went at first base run which allowed two runs to score and tied the score at 6-6.

The Warriors finally took the lead for good in the fourth inning. Hammond led the inning off with a base hit and Gil Solis reached on an error. Slater Nunez doubled in both runners to put the Warriors ahead 8-6. They got another run later in the inning on a productive out from Dylan Mares to take a 9-6 lead heading into the fifth inning.  

Both sides scored a run a piece in the fifth inning. In the sixth inning, the Seahawks added one run to make it a 10-8 game. The Warriors added three runs in the bottom of the sixth to finally get some separation and opened up a 5-run lead at 13-8. The Warriors finally put a zero on the opponents in the seventh inning after relief pitcher Henry Sorman tossed a 1-2--3 seventh inning. The Warriors addes six runs on five hits and one error in the eight inning to open up a 20-10 lead. The inning was capped off by Dylan Mares third home run in five games.

Sorman allowed a walk to start the ninth before retiring the next three opponents to finally put up another zero on the scoreboard.

The Warriors will try to complete their second sweep in a row on Saturday at La Harbor. First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m.
