Baseball Wins Seventh Straight, Sweeps Compton

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College secured the series sweep over visiting Compton on Saturday afternoon, scoring an 8-1 South Coast Conference victory at Warrior Field.

The Warriors (16-8, 9-3) won their seventh straight game and scored their second straight series sweep over a conference opponent.

Daniel Murillo led the Warriors offensively as he went 2-for-5 with a run scored. Juan Carlos Camarena capped off an outstanding series, going 1-for-3 with three RBI. For the series against the Tartars (8-14, 1-8), Camarena went 5-for-10 with five RBI and two runs scored. He drove in at least one run in each game of the series.

On the mound, Casey Kitagawa picked up the victory after tossing four innings of scoreless relief. He allowed two hits and one walk with two strikeouts. Pierce Kingston picked up his second save of the year as he entered in the eighth inning with a three-run lead. He pitched two scoreless innings and allowed one hit while striking out three.

The Warriors managed just five hits on the day but benefited from 11 walks issued by Compton pitching. In the eighth inning alone, the Warriors drew four walks and had a hit batter to score four times in the frame and put the game away.

The Warriors are scheduled to return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they host East Los Angeles for the first game of their SCC series. First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m.
