Orozco Commits to Chico State

Former El Camino College baseball player Aaron Orozco is headed north as he has committed to continue his education and playing career at Chico State University in Chico, Calif.

Orozco was a two-way star for the Warriors and played one full season in 2019 along with 21 games in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Overall, Orozco played in 67 games for the Warriors and posted a .326 batting average at the plate with 73 hits including 11 doubles, one triple and five home runs. He had 54 career RBI and also posted a career .451 slugging percentage.

On the mound, Orozco made 23 starts and posted a 14-4 overall record with four complete games. He tossed 144 and 2/3 career innings and recorded 127 strikeouts while posting a career 2.49 ERA. He averaged 7.9 strikeouts per nine innings.

In 2019, Orozco was named to the All-South Coast Conference, South Division First Team and the California Community College Baseball Coaches' Association (CCCBCA) First Team as a pitcher. He went 12-1 on the bump that season with 114 strikeouts and a 2.10 ERA in 17 starts, helping to lead the Warriors to a state runner-up finish.
