Acosta, Casillas Make Commitments to Play at Next Level

El Camino College baseball pitcher Joey Acosta and infielder Benny Casillas have each made their commitments to play baseball at the next level.

Acosta will be moving on to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) while Casillas has committed to Loyola Marymount.

Acosta was a key cog in the Warriors bullpen in 2020 as he made eight appearances in relief. He tossed 17 and 1/3 innings and struck out 17 batters while issuing three walks. He would record two saves for the Warriors while posting a 3.63 ERA and a 8.83 strikeouts per nine innings average.

Casillas played in all 22 games of the Warriors COVID-19 shortened 2020 campaign. He batted .304 with 29 hits, two doubles, one triple and one home run. He had 16 RBIs and scored 20 runs. He led the Warriors with 15 walks and boasted a .404 on-base percentage.

The Warriors went 16-6 with a 10-1 record in South Coast Conference play in 2020 before the season was abruptly cancelled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. .
