TORRANCE, Calif. - The No.2 Warriors capitalized on 14 walks and four hit batsmen in an dominating 14-2 victory over No.4 Glendale College in the first game of the CCCAA Baseball Southern California Sectionals.

The Warriors (37-7) only outhit the Vaqueros (30-16) eight-to-four for the game.  However, pitching was the story of the game as the Vaqueros struggled on the bump.  The five pitchers combined for 14 walks. Gerardo Ramirez took the loss for Glendale after surrendering nine runs in 3 innings, allowing 6 six hits, four walks, and four hit batters.

For the Warriors, Jimmy Galicia was once again excellent on the bump.  He tossed seven innings allowing just two runs on four hits, four walks, and fanning nine batters.  Nathan Draves was fantastic out of the pen in two innings, allowing zero hits, two walks, and striking out three batters.

The Warriors scored at least one run in all but two innings.  Every batter in the starting lineup contributed with either a run or an RBI.  Matt Beserra and Joseph Borges were the only Warriors with multi-hit games. Borges continues his torrid postseason with another two hits and three more RBIs to bring his totals to fourteen hits and eleven RBIs.

The Warriors took a 2-run lead early in the first inning.  Jerry Granillo led the inning off with a double and Spencer Long and Ty Conrad got on base to load the bases.  Aaron Orozco singled to left field to bring in both runs to make it a 2-0 game.

The Warriors added one run in the 2nd inning before exploding for six runs in the third inning.  The Glendale starter lost control that inning and eleven Warriors came up to bat that inning. The Warriors scored six runs on three hits, two hit by pitches, and three walks. After the third inning, the Warriors held onto a 9-0 lead.

They added one run in fourth, sixth, and three runs in the seventh inning to complete the rout.

Glendale scored two runs in the sixth inning.  Galicia ran into trouble after loading the bases via three walks.  Glendale scored on a base hit and a fielder's choice before Galicia was able to escape the jam.

The Warriors are now one game away from reaching the CCCAA Baseball State Championships.  They will serve as the visiting team in Game 2 of the Sectionals.
