Baseball Shreds Eagles on the Road

SYLMAR, Calif. - After suffering their worst loss of the season on Thursday vs Chaffey College, the El Camino College bats were relentless in a 14-0 rout of LA Mission College on the road on Saturday afternoon.

The Warriors (27-6) pounded out a season high 19 hits in the win over the Eagles.  They also held LA Mission (16-15) scoreless for the Warriors third shutout of the season.

Joseph Borges had a monster day at the plate going 4-for-6 with 6 RBIs and one run scored.  Borges hit his third home run of the season to tie him with Spencer Palmer for the team lead.  Palmer was 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Aaron Orozco was 2-for-4 and hit his second home run of the season.  Matt Beserra, Brendon Casillas, and Taishi Nakawake each had two hits a piece.

Aaron Orozco picked up his 9th win of the year after tossing 7 shutout innings giving up just five hits, one walk, and striking out six batters.  Ian Brady and Joseph Brazil each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

The Warriors scored in every inning except the second inning.  They scored one run in the first, third, fourth, fifth to put four runs on the LA Mission starting pitcher.  The Warriors then pounded out ten runs in the last four innings on five relief pitchers for the Eagles.

However, the news wasn't all good on Saturday.  Long Beach City College completed a three game sweep over Cerritos College and moved into a one game lead (15-4) in first place in the South Coast Conference South Division.  The Warriors are in second place with a 14-5 conference record.  The Vikings will play Compton College in the final week of the regular season while the Warriors will play LA Harbor College.

The Warriors will host three non-conference games next week at home.  Starting with Antelope Valley on Monday, April 15th. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
