Borges Blast Lifts Baseball Over Pasadena

PASADENA, Calif. - Joseph Borges broke a 2-2 tie in the seventh inning with a two-run opposite home run blast and the Warriors held on for a 4-2 win over Pasadena at Jackie Robinson Memorial Stadium at Brookside Park.

The No.3 El Camino College Warriors (17-3, 5-2) won their fifth game in a row since dropping two games to Mt. Sac to open conference play.  No. 19 Pasadena City College (12-6, 4-3) was tied for the lead in the South Coast Conference North Division going into this game.

Jimmy Galicia drew the start and picked up his team leading fifth win of the season.  Galicia went six innings, giving up just two runs, five hits, two walks, and struck out seven batters.   Spencer Long pitched the last three innings to pick up his sixth save of the season. Long gave up four hits and fanned two batters.

Joseph Borges led the offense for the day going 3-for-5 with one run scored and two RBIs.  His second home run of the year tied him with Spencer Palmer for the Warriors lead in two home runs.  Taishi Nakawake was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

The Warriors took the lead early in the game in the third inning.  Taishi Nakawake led the inning off with a base hit before Spencer Palmer was able to drive him in with a knock to right field.  Joseph Borges hit a base hit before Aaron Orozco was able to drive in Palmer to make it a 2-0 game.

Pasadena tied the game up in fourth inning at 2-2. The Lancers had bases loaded with two outs when Edward Manzo and Cole Pillar both scored on wild pitches by Galicia.  

The Warriors regained the lead in the top of the seventh inning.  Once again, Taishi Nakawake led the inning off with a single before eventually Joseph Borges went oppo taco with a 2-run blast over the right field fence.

The Warriors will now look to extend their win streak to six games as they host Pasadena City College on Saturday, March 16th.  First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM. Aaron Orozco is the designated starter for the Warriors.
