Late Offensive Barrage Carries Baseball over East Los Angeles

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. -  After losing back-to-back games for the first time all season last week, El Camino College had a perfect 3-0 week after defeating East Los Angeles 10-2 on the road on Saturday afternoon.

The game was knotted up 1-1 through the first four innings of the game before the Warriors (15-3, 3-2) offense got the bats rolling to eventually score nine runs in the last five innings of the game.  The Huskies (9-10-1, 2-2-1) had taken an early lead before the Warriors calmed their nerves and took over the game.

Aaron Orozco picked up his fourth win of the season after tossing eight innings, giving up two runs on ten hits, one walk, and five strikeouts.   Nathan Draves pitched a scoreless inning in the ninth inning.

The Warriors outhit the Huskies thirteen hits to ten hits.  Five of the Warrior batsman had two hits. Spencer Palmer was 2-for-4 with with 2 runs score and 3 RBIs.  Joseph Borges was 2-for-5 with 3 RBIs. Matt Beserra was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored. Ty Conrad was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs.  Sladen Mohl was 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.

The Huskies struck first in the first inning to make it a 1-0 game off a bases loaded fielders choice.  Spencer Palmer tied the game up 1-1 in the second inning after hitting a knock to RF and scoring Sladen Mohl.    

The Warriors made it 2-1 in the fifth inning when Joseph Borges hit an RBI single to CF scoring Spencer Palmer on the play.

The Warriors added two more runs in the sixth inning to make it a 4-1 game. Matt Beserra led the inning off with a walk before Ty Conrad hit a single to put runners on the corners. Sladen Mohl hit an RBI single up the middle to score Beserra. Logan Young was hit by a pitch to load the bases before Spencer Palmer walked with bases loaded to bring in a run.

The Warriors added three runs in the 8th and 9th inning.  In the eighth inning, the Warriors loaded the bases and scored a run on four consecutive walks.  Joseph Borges hit an RBI single that drove in two more runs. In the ninth inning, Matt Beserra and Spencer Long got on base to start the inning.  They both advanced on a wild pitch and Ty Conrad drove them both in to make it 9-2. Conrad eventually scored on a passed ball to make it a 10-2 game.  

The Warriors will host East Los Angeles College on Tuesday afternoon.  First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
