Baseball Sweeps Past Rio Hondo

WHITTIER, Calif. - The El Camino College baseball team defeated Rio Hondo College, 5-3 on the road on Thursday afternoon.  The Warriors swept the series vs the Roadrunners after taking the game on Monday, 7-0.

The Warriors (14-3, 2-2) hit two more home runs too add to their total of seven after not hitting a home run until the thirteenth game of the season.  Spencer Palmer hit his second bomb of the season while Joseph Borges collected his first homer of the season. Ty Conrad had three for the day and it was his first multi-hit game since the first game of the season.

Jimmy Galicia collected his fourth win of the season to match teammate, Max Pappas.  Galicia went seven innings allowing three runs (two earned) off seven hits, zero walks, and striking out four batters. Spencer Long collected his fifth save of the season, collecting his fourth save with multiple innings pitched.  

The Warriors opened the scoring in the fourth inning.  Joseph Borges launched a two run homerun. Matt Beserra later scored the third run of the inning after Taishi Nakawake reached on an error by the Rio Hondo third basemen.  

Rio Hondo got run back in the bottom of the fourth inning after Jordan Salgado hit an RBI single to make it 3-1.  

In the next inning, Spencer Palmer greeted a new Rio Hondo pitcher with his second home run of the year to make it a 4-1 game.  Rio Hondo got a run back as well in the fifth inning when Rick Akles singled in a run.

The Warriors made it a 5-2 game when Sladen Mohl hit into a double play with no outs and Spencer Long on third base.   The Warriors would later load the bases that inning with two outs, but couldn't push across another run.

The Roadrunners got their last run of the game back in the seventh inning when Christian Tinnan hit a solo home run to make it 5-3.  That was the last scoring of the game for either side.

The Warriors begin their two game set with East Los Angeles on Saturday, March 9th at East Los Angeles.  First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
