Baseball Shuts Out Rio Hondo at Home

TORRANCE, Calif. - El Camino College dominated Rio Hondo College 7-0 for their conference win of the season on Monday at Warrior Field.  

The Warriors (13-3, 1-2) outhit the Roadrunners (6-8, 2-1) twelve hits to five hits and the Warriors pitching staff held their opponents scoreless.

Max Pappas picked up his fourth win of the season by tossing seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits, two walks, and fanning four batters.  Joseph Brazil and Zach Findlay each pitched an inning of relief.

Eight of the Warriors in the starting lineup had a hit today.  Matt Beserra led the offense by going 2-for-4 with two runs and four RBIs after belting his first home run of the season.  Logan Young, Spencer Palmer, and Joseph Borges each picked up two knocks.

The Warriors opened the scoring by putting up three runs in the third inning.  Aaron Orozco and Joseph Borges both got on base before Matt Beserra doubled to left center to bring in one run.  Borges scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-0. Spencer Long singled up the middle to bring in the third run of the inning.  

El Camino College put up three more runs in the fourth inning.  Matt Beserra launched a three-run shot (his first of the season) over the left field wall to make it 6-0.  

The Warriors would score one more run in the 6th inning.  Logan Young led the inning off with a base hit before Spencer Palmer tripled to left center to make it a 7-0 game.  

The Warriors will head to San Bernardino Valley on Wednesday, March 6th for their next scheduled game.  First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM if weather permits.
