Galicia Pitches Gem as Warriors defeat Saddleback

MISSION VIEJO, CALIF. - Jimmy Galicia pitched a complete game as the Warriors defeated Saddleback College 2-1 on the road on Wednesday afternoon at Doug Fritz Field.

The Warriors increased their win streak to three games and moved to an impressive 10-1 overall to start the season.

Galicia picked up his third win of the season as he tossed all 9 innings and gave up 1 run on 6 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 5 batters.  Nick Hernandez took the loss for Gauchos (6-4) after giving up two runs in 5.1 innings of work off 8 hits, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts.

The Warriors had 10 hits for the day.  Sladen Mohl was 3-4 at the plate with 1 run scored.  Taishi Nakawake was 2-4 with 1 RBI.

Saddleback took the lead in the 4th inning after Reed Beverly scored Riley Kasper on an RBI single.

The Warriors responded in the 6th inning with their only two runs of the game off four consecutive hits.  Joseph Borges and Sladen Mohl both had one out singles. Taishi Nakawake scored Borges on a single and Ty Conrad brought home Mohl on a double to make it 2-1.  

The Gauchos had runners on second and third with one out in the seventh inning, but Galicia was able to pitch out of the jam on a strikeout and a fly out to end the Gaucho threat.

The Warriors will look to continue their win streak as they face Fullerton College on Saturday, February 23rd.  First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
