Warriors Late Rally Keeps Win Streak Alive

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - After facing their final strike of the game being down 3-2 in the Top of the 9th, Taishi Nakawake roped a base hit to left field to bring in two runs to keep the win streak going to start the season.

Bakersfield (6-3) had broken a 2-2 stalemate since the 4th inning by going ahead 3-2 in the Bottom of the 8th inning.

However, the Warriors (7-0) were resilient and able to load the bases in the 9th inning to give them an opportunity to extend the game.  After Matt Beserra flied out to start the inning, Brett Gieseke was hit by a pitch. Logan Young blooped a single to right field before Jerry Granillo flied out.  Sladen Mohl was able to work a walk to load the bases. After fouling off a couple pitches and facing his last strike, Nakawake singled to left field to bring in two runners and put the Warriors on top 4-2.

Ty Conrad hit a hard chopper down the 3B line that the third basemen made an error to give the Warriors a 5-2 lead in the 9th inning. After giving up the go ahead run in the 8th inning, Julian Diaz had a 1-2-3 inning in the 9th to close the game out for the Warriors.

It was a good pitching duel between both starters for both teams.  Aaron Orozco went 7 innings giving up two runs off two hits, three walks, and striking out ten Renegade batters. Lane Cowan pitched 7 innings giving up two runs off two hits, two walks, and striking out six Warriors.

The Warriors only had four hits in the ball game.  Nakawake had two hits, Spencer Long and Logan Young had the other two hits.

The Warriors struck first in the 3rd inning after Spencer Long singled to RF to score Nakawake and put the Warriors up 1-0.  They made it a 2-0 game in the 4th inning after Spencer Palmer hit a sac fly to center field to score Taishi.

Bakersfield got one run back in the 3rd inning after Ashanti Ross scored Ry Dickerson on an RBI groundout to make it a 2-1 game.  The Renegades tied the game up in the 4th inning after Landn Kauk led the inning off with a single. He stole second base and advanced to third on a wild pitch and later scored on a sac fly to left field by Trey Harmon.

The Renegades scored in the 8th inning after Wil Reynolds led the inning off with a double to left field.  He advanced on to third on a ground out to the right side and later scored on a fielder's choice.

The Warriors will look to keep the win streak going to start the season and finish off the sweep vs the Renegades.  First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
