Palmer, Ruiz Jr. and Haus Earn ABCA Honors

2018 ABCA/Rawlings Pacific Association Division: All-American Teams | All-Region Teams 

El Camino College was well represented as the American Baseball Coaches' Association announced its 2018 All-Region and All American selections, it was announced recently.

Spencer Palmer, Jose Ruiz Jr. and Kenneth Haus were all named to the 2018 Southern California-ABCA All-Region Team while Palmer earned a spot on the 2018 ABCA/Rawlings All-America Team.

Palmer was named to the Pacific Association All-America Second Team and the Pacific Association Southern California All-Region First Team after a stellar freshman campaign with the Warriors.

The first baseman helped lead ECC to the California Community College Baseball Southern California Sectionals for the second straight season. Palmer played in 43 games and led the team in batting average (.415), hits (68), home runs (8), walks (37), on-base percentage (.543) and slugging percentage (.652). His batting average ranked sixth in the state.

Ruiz Jr. played 47 games for the Warriors, all behind the plate. He was one of five players on the team that batted .300 or better and was second on the team with three triples. He tallied 54 hits on the season with 10 doubles and four home runs, scoring 49 runs. He ranked second on the team with 28 walks and posted a .868 OPS.

The team's ace on the mound, Haus made 16 starts on the year and didn't get pegged with a loss until April 17 against East Los Angeles. He went 10-2 overall on the season with a 2.77 ERA. He tossed 104 innings to lead the team with one complete game. He also led the team with 98 strikeouts.

The Warriors finished the season with a 28-19 record and advanced to the CCCAA Sectionals for the second straight season.
