Warriors Rally Comes up Short at Cypress

For the second straight game, El Camino College erased a big deficit late in the game but this time the Warriors could not complete the comeback as Cypress College scored the 10-7 win Tuesday afternoon at Cypress College.

The Warriors gave up seven unanswered runs as they watched an early 1-0 lead turn into a six-run hole. But, just like in their 14-10 comeback win over Santa Barbara on Saturday, the Warriors offense rose to the occasion, scoring six runs in three innings including a 4-run seventh to come all the way back and catch the Chargers at 7-7 at the stretch.

But the Chargers denied the Warriors their second straight comeback, scoring three times in their half of the seventh to regain the lead and then Daniel Foret shut things down for the Chargers on the mound to secure the win.

For the Warriors, Diego Alarcon and Jose Ruiz Jr. recorded multi-hit games with Ruiz Jr. driving in two. Matthew Beserra was 1-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI.

Dominic Campeau led the way for the Chargers as he went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and four RBI including the go-ahead 3-run triple in the bottom of the seventh with the bases loaded.

The Warriors will return to action Thursday at home when they host Pasadena in the South Coast Conference opener. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
