Palmer, Folgers Lead Offensive Explosion Against Wolverines

TORRANCE, Calif. – El Camino College pounded out nine extra-base hits including four home runs en route to an 11-0 victory over San Bernardino Valley Saturday afternoon at Warrior Field.
The Warriors offense exploded on Saturday with Spencer Palmer and Jordan Folgers leading the charge. Palmer was perfect at the plate for the Warriors (7-4), going 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double and five RBI. Meanwhile, Folgers blasted two homers of his own and drove in four on the day. Matthew Beserra and Jose Ruiz Jr. each belted two doubles for the Warriors as the team belted out 14 hits on the day.
On the mound, four Warriors pitchers combined to shutout the Wolverines. Kenneth Haus picked up the win, tossing six innings and allowing four hits. He did walk four but struck out six on the way to his third win of the season. Joseph Brazil, Tyler Bonsky and Max Pappas combined to toss three innings of spotless relief as they retired nine straight hitters to end the game and record the victory.

The barrage began in the first inning for the Warriors as Folgers opened the scoring with a towering, two-run blast over the center field fence to make it 2-0. A few batters later, Palmer got in on the action as he launched a two-run bomb of his own over the right-field fence for a 4-0 edge after one inning.

With the lead still four, the Wolverines mounted their best rally of the day against the Warriors pitching staff as Haus walked the bases loaded with nobody out. But the right-hander came all the way back and responded by striking out the side and stranding the three runners on base to keep the Wolverines off the scoreboard.
After the third, the Wolverines would get only one runner to third base the rest of the way.

Meanwhile, the duo of Folgers and Palmer continued to terrorize the Wolverines pitching staff. Folgers blasted another two-run shot off the top of the left-field wall and out in the fifth inning to make it 6-0.

With the score 7-0 in the sixth, it was Palmer's turn to hit his second bomb of the day, taking an offering from Tyler Van Marter and depositing it over the scoreboard in right for a three-run shot to make it 10-0. Cody Wissler would add an RBI single later in the inning to cap the scoring.
The Warriors have now won three straight games and five of their last six after starting the year losers of three of their first five. They will look to keep the win streak going on Tuesday at L.A. Mission. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
