Warriors Drop Finale at Bakersfield in Extras

El Camino College jumped out a lead for the third straight game but this time it did not hold as Bakersfield came back to defeat the Warriors, 5-4, in 11 innings Saturday afternoon at Gerry Collis Field.

The Warriors led 4-0 after the top of the third but the Renegades chipped away at the ECC advantage and eventually tied things up in the sixth inning. From that point on, neither team could find a way to score and the game required extra innings.

It was in the bottom of the 11th that the Renegades pulled out the win on an RBI single by Isaac Ramos to score the game-winning run from second base with one out in the frame.

Nathan Draves was tagged with the loss for the Warriors. He tossed three innings in relief and allowed the one run on five hits. He struck out one.

Offensively, the Warriors had five players log multi-hit efforts on Saturday. Spencer Long, Matthew Beserra, Spencer Palmer, Joseph Borges and Taishi Nakawake all recorded two hits for the Warriors. Jose Ruiz Jr. was the only other Warriors player to record a hit, going 1-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI.

The Warriors will return to action on Wednesday afternoon with a road contest against San Bernardino Valley. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
