LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 1 El Camino College continued its recent funk as the Warriors dropped an 11-0 South Coast Conference-South Division contest to No. 19 Long Beach City Thursday afternoon at Joe Hicks Memorial Field.

The Warriors (33-6, 17-4) could never get anything going offensively and were shutout for the first time this season. The Vikings (25-13-1, 16-5) moved within one game of the Warriors in the SCC-South Standings and can clinch a share of the conference title with a win in Friday afternoon's season finale at Warrior Field.

Right-hander Ricky Ramos suffered his first loss of the season on the bump as he allowed four runs, three earned, on seven hits. He walked two and struck out three.

Jared Mayeda went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run for the Vikings while Zach Martinez went 4-for-5 with three runs scored to lead the offensive barrage for the hosts.

Right-hander picked up his eighth victory of the season as he tossed a complete-game shutout. He scattered five hits, walked two and struck out four.

The teams will wrap up their three-game set Friday afternoon at Warrior Field. First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m.
