Warriors Complete Sweep of Cerritos

CERRITOS, Calif. – El Camino College remained undefeated in South Coast Conference action Saturday afternoon, sweeping a pair of games from Cerritos College at Kincaid Field.

The Warriors (24-2, 11-0) scored 11-5 and 5-1 victories over the Falcons (8-18, 3-8) on Saturday. The day began with the teams concluding the opening game of the series that was suspended on Tuesday due to rain. Action resumed Saturday morning in the bottom of the eighth and then was followed by the conclusion of the series.

GAME ONE: ECC 11, Cerritos 5

The Warriors led 4-1 when action resumed on Saturday morning but the Falcons had two on and one out as Thomas Stropky took the mound for the Warriors. The Falcons regrouped nicely, scoring three times in the eighth to tie the score. But the Warriors answered with a seven-run eruption in the ninth inning, helping ECC lock down the win. Jake Carr picked up is first win of the season after going an inning and 1/3. Ty Conrad, Brady Dorn, Hunter Lewis and Cody Wissler all tallied a pair of hits in the game with Conrad, Dorn, Wissler and Ryan Eastburn each tallying two RBIs on the day.

GAME TWO: ECC 5, Cerritos 1

Dorn drove in three of the Warriors five runs in the second game and Conrad went 3-for-4 with two runs scored to help ECC complete the sweep. Taylor Rashi picked up his seventh win on the mound, going six innings and allowing just one run on eight hits. He walked four and struck out seven. Kenneth Haus tossed the final three innings in relief. He shut the Falcons offense down as he did not allow a base runner and struck out three to pick up his third save of the season.

The Warriors have now won 16 straight games and will look to continue their roll Tuesday as they travel to ECC Compton Center to kick off a three-game series.
