TORRANCE, Calif. – The Warriors faced off against College of the Canyons in the Warriors' home opener on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors were first on the board with a run by Trevor Casanova when Andre Mora hit a single up the middle. The second inning proved more challenging as the Cougars earned three runs off a deep fly ball to center field and scored a home run off a fly ball to left field. At the bottom of the second the Warriors came close to scoring a run when the bases were loaded before Brady Dorn was struck out by the pitcher.

Pitcher Ricky Ramos picked of a runner on first which ultimately did not allow Canyons to score after they hit a double, ending the fifth inning with no runs for the Cougars.

The Cougars led the game by two runs going into the bottom of the sixth inning but gave way to the Warriors' second run. Cody Wissler hit a line drive to left field which put him on first and Barba on second with one out. The Warriors then had one out left when Carr went up to bat. Carr hit a single to right field and brought home Barba who was on second. Carr was thrown out trying to advance to second.

Barba's off the wall double took the lead for the Warriors in the seventh inning. Mora and Conrad both made the runs and put the game 4-3 in the Warriors' favor.

The Cougars came close to tying the game in the ninth inning with only one out left and a runner on third. Dorn caught the ground ball to take it to second for the force out and end the game.

"We did a really good job of battling, we were down the whole game to come back in the seventh inning," commented Coach Nate Fernely. "I was very proud."

Barba shared his thoughts on the win, "It was a whole team effort. Our pitcher only had one rough inning with three runs and then we came back with the big hit, which we were waiting for."

The Warriors travel to Mt. San Jacinto on Wednesday, "We need to stay with our approach and keep hitting the ball"
