Leilua, Waters Advance to State Championships

El Camino College's Aiko Waters and Phina Leilua secured the No. 13 seed in Southern California at the California Community College Beach Volleyball Regionals Friday at Irvine Valley College.

The Warriors duo secured a spot in next week's CCCAA Beach Volleyball Pairs State Championships, which are scheduled for May 11-12 at West Valley College.

Waters and Leilua were one of 20 teams that qualified for the CCCAA State Championships on Friday as the team earned the No. 13 seed in SoCal.

The field consisted of 32 teams with Waters and Leilua receiving a bye from the first round of action, meaning they needed just one win on the day to qualify for state.

They accomplished the feat right away and will be the Warriors lone representatives at West Valley next week.
