Warriors Drop Two Against Miracosta and Long Beach City

LONG BEACH, Calif. - In a matchup hosted by Long Beach City College at Granada Beach, the Warriors faced a strong Viking side as well as Miracosta College. In both competitions, the Warriors fell to each team 3-2.

In the first matchup of the day, the Warriors fought against the Spartans who were fierce competition. Micah Hammond and Michelle Shimamoto had close matches. The Spartans won the first set but Hammond and Shimamoto brought their game to come back by winning the second and third. Megan Lim and Victoria Curtice also won in three sets.

Against the Vikings, Taylor Brydon and Brooklyn Rubio fell in two sets. The second came close, as the Vikings edged them out by a two point lead and blocked the Warriors from going into a third set. Aiko Waters and Kiana Takahashi had a close match, taking the first set by nine points. The Vikings responded by taking the second but the Warriors hustled to win the final set, 15-8. Curtice and Lim had a strong day, also winning their matches against the Vikings which was not an easy feat.

"I would say some definite progress with a few teams," commented Coach Le Valley Pattison. "Victoria and Megan had two solid wins. Kiana and Aiko got one but almost got two. I saw a lot of improvement from last weekend. Every team played strong and much more aggressive. We need to limit out unforced errors and have a little better ball control."

The results from today's matches puts the Warriors at 9-3 in the season and will host San Diego Mesa and Palomar next Friday on the El Camino Sand Courts.
